Establishedin 1953, China Electronics Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd. (CEEDI) was once subordinate to the Ministry of Electronics Industry and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. CEEDI has been under the management  of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State  Council since 2003 and merged into the State Development and Investment Group Co., Ltd.(SDIC) in 2009.

CEEDI has more than 30 Class A qualifications, including Qualification for Engineering Design(Class A), Qualification for Construction of Housing Projects (Grade A), Qualification for Engineering Consultation(ClassA), Qualification for Engineering Cost Consulting(Class A), Qualification for Environmental Impact Assessment of Construction Project (Class A), Qualification for Urban and Rural Planning(Class A), and Qualification for Construction Supervision.

Focusing on the engineering, CEEDI provides excellent and all-sided services for both domestic and overseas clients, including project consulting, planning, environmental impact and energy- conservation assessment, architectural design, project management, construction supervision, project contracting, and engineering inspection and testing in the fields of industrial engineering and civil buildings.

CEEDI has already established scientific and technical platforms at enterprise, provincial and state levels and made fruitful scientific and technical achievements by implementing the strategies in scientific research promotion, standardization and intellectual property.

In 2013, CEEDI was approved to be the enterprise technology center recognized by the state and set up the academician expert workstation approved by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology.

In 2016 and 2019, CEEDI was authorized by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China to set up the National Supervision and Inspection Center for Electronic Engineering Construction and Environmental Performance Quality and the National Supervision and Inspection Center for Health and Elder-caring Intelligent System and Equipment Quality, which are the sole centers at national level in such fields.

CEEDI takes talents as its core resource. By the end of 2020, CEEDI has more than 3300 staff, including 5 national design masters, 46 experts enjoying the special governmental allowance, 600 senior engineers and professor-level senior engineers, and over 620 engineers holding registered qualifications. CEEDI was approved by the state to set up an enterprise post-doctoral scientific research workstation in 2008 and an enterprise academicians and experts workstation in 2013.
